August 2008 Adsense earnings= $550 (mostly from irishviews.com).
August 2008 earnings from selling hi-res photos / rights to use my photos = approx $180
August 2008 Chitika earnings = $20 (mostly from irishviews.com)
Project Wonderful - August 2008 earnings = $3.72 (This blog only)
Kontera - August 2008 earnings = $2 (This blog only)
Total Earnings For August 2008 = approx $750.
This is the first full month that I have run an 'Adsense For Search' box on my irishviews.com web site. It has been used for almost 3000 searches during August 2008. It has not earned a hell of a lot, and has not increased my overall earnings, but it is fairly easy to implement and does provide a useful function for visitors, so this will be staying for the foreseeable future. It is also handy to be able to see what people are searching for in your Adsense reports. e.g. I now know that I need to get some photos of 'Dublin' uploaded to my site!
NB - The Adsense link unit at the top of the page on irishviews.com is one of my best earners, earning nearly 6 times as much as the search box!
I tried using the 'Paid image ads' option in Chitika for the advert at the top right of all my pages on irishviews.com for the last half of August. It made very little difference (and some of the adverts are of the really annoying, in your face, flashing kind). In view of this, I'll be removing the Chitika adverts from that site. But I must emphasize again that if you have the type of site with the sort of keywords that would work well with 'Chitika Premium' (mortages etc) then it is definitely worth trying it out.
Project Wonderful continues to make me enough to buy one pint of beer a month (if I go to one of the cheaper pubs / bars in my area). I have spent absolutely no time at all on PW this month, and the 125x125 pixel advert doesn't take up a lot of space on this blog, so I'll let it stay for a while yet..
August was the first full month I used Kontera In-Text website advertising (only on this blog).

ReplyDeleteYes - it was quite easy to do the favicon as mentioned in this post, using a map of ireland as a starting point..
ipanks - no big secret - gets lots of traffic and make sure your Adsense units are in the right place!
ReplyDeleteI'm interested in how you earn money selling the Hi-Res photos. Do you market them? Do people just come to you and ask for them? Are you a member of one of the stock sites or have a storefront on another site?

I did say in a previous post that it was probably not worth the hassle, but things have improved a little bit of late..
I do still get some time wasters, but I guess you have to put up with that..
I don't market them - I merely make them easy to find on the Search Engines and state near the top of each page that if anyone wants to use them for business use, please contact me.
No, I do not flog my photos through any of the stock sites (I tried but did not have much success).
